CARRIE

Position: Manager

Originally from Centralia Washington I moved to Alaska in 2003 with my husband Rick who was serving in the Armed Forces at that time. I got into the jewelry industry by happenstance. While applying for a job at a gift shop, I was recommended to meet the owners of a wholesale manufacturing jewelry company. Here I began working in the wholesale industry with gold nugget and silver jewelry selling to gift shop and jewelry stores across Alaska. After working for about a year with Fishing For Gold in wholesale we opened a retail store. Retail immediately encouraged me to learn so many facets of the jewelry business! To mention a few, sales, appraisals, marketing and so much more.  I have since acquired a Gemologist Certification and now hold the position of manager for Bishop’s Jewelry Gallery. I have been in the industry since 2006 and still learn something new every day!

When Im not working my husband Rick and I try to enjoy all the wonders Alaska provides us, fishing, hunting, camping, berry picking, skiing, and of course raising my 2 daughter Makayla, and Amy.

As a young girl I loved everything about jewelry, wearing it looking at peoples jewelry and of course buying it. I bought my first piece of expensive jewelry as a reward for my accomplishments. It was a diamond solitare ring to wear on my pinky. Some years later in my 30’s while browsing the jewelry at Zales was asked if Id like a job. After 25 years with Zales I found a new position with Bishop’s Jewelry Gallery. Bishops reputation was what intrieged me to visit the store and ask for a job.  In her spare time I enjoy gardening, camping, walking, all types of outdoor activies that allow me to to enjoy the vast beauty of Alaska.
